Autumn 2016

GUITAR AID IN PERU, SOUTH AMERICA

The venue for this meeting was in Cusco, Peru. The reason, was to have a personal consultation with missionaries serving in the Americas. It was a time of sharing together each other’s vision, more importantly, the chance to let them know we are thinking about them and praying for them back in the UK. The missionaries were gathered together, from Colombia, Panama and various parts of Peru. At the end of the time we spent with them, we presented them with a guitar to take home. Spending time in South America was made even more special, as our contact in Cusco, Steve Hobby, had arranged for us to visit many of the significant places in the Inca Heartland. For all of us, the highlight was visiting Machu Picchu. The first view of this amazing place at sunrise, takes your breath away. This trip was a wonderful combination of Mission and Exploration of the country. Mark and his wife, were celebrating 25yrs of marriage, and Liz and I were celebrating 30 years. This trip enabled us to combine a mission with the opportunity to take in some of the unique culture Peru has to offer.

Sponsorship - Making a Difference!

It never ceases to amaze me, the reaction we get, when we give instruments to those that need them. The trip to South America, was a wonderful example of this. The missionaries from PERU, COLOMBIA and PANAMA, received the guitars with such joy, that I thought it would be good to share their stories with you. In this last year, we have given 170 guitars. This is an increase on previous years. Each guitar we give, represents a life changed. The instrument you sponsor, can have a huge impact on the local community, as well as the individual. If you haven’t already done, why not consider coming along side us, and being a part of the vision and ministry of Guitar Aid.

BULGARIA, ROMANIA, SLOVAKIA & HUNGARY

We started the year with a great weekend in Bulgaria, sharing in the C3 Church in Stara Zagora. We took guitars to Gypsy communities as well as the main Church. In Romania, we had the privilege of attending the opening of the new Church in Hunedoara. 13 years earlier, we stood on the land and prayed with Pastor Vurel, holding up his hands as we prayed. What a blessing to see the new Church open! In Hungary, we attended the 25th Anniversary of the Church in Bekescaba. We took instruments and a band from Riverside, Exeter, to Campfest. What an amazing time we had, worshiping together with 7,000 in Slovakia. One of the highlights of this year was the visit of Brano Letko and his family, who brought their unique style of worship to the Guitar Aid celebration evening.

Thank you so much for your support, we really appreciate it!

Dave Sumner.
